WEDDING THEME & APPAREL

We have chosen to make this wedding as simple, fun and unique as possible.  Our theme is going to be "Rustic Country Picnic," and I challenge you all to say that 5 times fast!

Our ceremony will be outside, underneath a gazebo that is hidden inside a pretty little garden.  Our reception will be held only yards away from the ceremony location.  For those of you coming to the wedding, the address will be included on your invitation.  I'm hoping to have the invitations sent out within this next week.

The reception food will be set up as a pot luck, which I will be posting the list shortly after this entry for anyone who wants to bring a dish.  There will be entertainment for guests of ALL ages.  We will have music, some dancing, games, and we will also include a few wedding traditions such as cutting the cake and the bouquet toss.  What makes this wedding so special for me is the compilation of talent and gifts that friends and family have already contributed, in order to attain a wedding as beautiful and yet as cost-efficient as possible.

I am going to answer the two most important questions that guests have been asking...

1. HOW SHOULD WE DRESS?

The more broad of an answer would be, "Dress Casual--Whatever you want, just please don't show up in baggy or ripped up/stained clothes.  And at least brush your teeth and hair."

But for those of you who may need a more thorough answer...

Men: Jeans, slacks or even khaki shorts would be fine with a collared shirt.  Please, do not wear shirts with writing or symbols on them.  There are too many people coming from different backgrounds, culturally and religiously, and we are not looking to offend anyone.

Women: A summer dress with a cardigan (in the off chance that it decides to be cool on that morning), slacks or even cute jeans, and a nice casual top.

We live in Florida and the wedding is going to be outdoors.  Therefore, we are leaving it open to anyone who wishes to coordinate flip flops with their outfit.  If you prefer to feel more dressed up, closed-toed shoes, dressier sandals, heals and pumps are also more than welcome.  I, personally, will be wearing my cowboy boots! It is a country wedding, after all. ;)

2. WILL THERE BE ALCOHOL?

The answer, I fear, will be an unsettling one for many of you... No, there will be no alcohol.  Our venue is owned by the county and therefore, they do not allow alcohol to be served.  Quite honestly, we prefer it this way. Once again, we have many people attending from different backgrounds as well as age groups, and we fear that the consumption of alcohol would only cause unnecessary drama on such a special day for us.

BUT WAIT! There is still good news for our beer-loving friends!! After the wedding reception, we will be holding an "After Party" (location TBA).  While our wedding is going to be 100% kid friendly, the after party will be for adults only.  Although we have not set a location in stone just yet, I can tell you that we won't be able to pay for an open bar. So the after party will be BYOB (Buy Your Own Beer) but the fun will be priceless. ;)

If there are any further questions about the wedding details, please feel free to email me!
